Erol Bilecik, who was born on 26 November 1962 in the city of peace, brotherhood and tolerance in Antakya,Hatay spent the first 17-18 years of his early life here. Bilecik, born as a cadet of a mother who is a housewife and a father, who carries on a  business in furniture sector has a brother who is five years  older than him and a sister who is seven years older than him.

School Years And First Step in Istanbul

After graduating from İnönü Elementary School and attending the middle school which was located almost on the other side of the city, he was graduated from ancient Antakya High School. He left Antakya with ambitions to become an engineer and he came to Istanbul in 1980 to study at Istanbul Technical University.

Resided in Beşiktaş With a Heart Beating for Fenerbahçe

It did not take long to overcome the first difficulties of being a stranger in İstanbul, thanks to his uncles living there. Despite being a devoted Fenerbahçe fan, Beşiktaş, the district where he spent his university years, earned his loveliness as being the address of the most pleasant times of his life.

His Happiest Vow

Seven months before his university graduation, he experienced one of the most important turning points of his life. He married with Miss İnci, a classmate in the university and sealed a happy marriage. He then had to start his business life earlier. The real life journey started when he received his diploma in February 1987.

Entering The Business World

After graduation, Bilecik started to work as a System Analyst in Nixdorf Computer. After two years of working experience, he started to establish Index.

And Here Comes Index

Entrepreneurship was in the DNA of Bilecik Family. Having taken the example of his father Abbuş’s passion and determination, Erol Bilecik had a dream too; creating a leading enterprise. This dream was the foundation beneath Index’s origins and its path to become a leading company in IT industry. During his brief professional working career, he drafted a business plan to establish his own enterprise.

His ideas turned into reality with the help of his four fellow friends from Istanbul Technical University.

His Most Beloved Ones

In 1990, their first child Kaan was born. With the birth of Kaan, just 1 year after the company's foundation, they experienced the happiness of having a new born enterprise and a new born baby.

With the birth of their second child, Naz, in 1999, the happiness of the family was increased even more than ever.

The Years Go By, The Company Grows

As the founding partner of Indeks Bilgisayar, Erol Bilecik became the first CEO of the company in 1989. Since 1999, he has been the President and the CEO of Indeks Bilgisayar, Despec, Datagate, Neteks, Homend, Artım and Teklos. 

And today…

Bilecik’s efforts focused on the development of the company until 2000. Starting from that year he also focused on voluntary and mentoring work with both the industry and non-governmental organizations. Erol Bilecik served as the president of Informatics Industry Association of Turkey (TUBISAD), one of the oldest non-governmental institutions in Turkish computer industry between 2002 and 2005 and ITU Alumni Council and ITU Alumni Association between 2011 and 2014. Turkish Grand Assembly honoured Erol Bilecik with the Meritorious Service Medal in 15 July 2010, for his support and contribution to the field of education. Erol Bilecik was elected as the President of TÜSİAD during the ordinary general assembly of the association on 12 January 2017.
